Recent Gaming #1 – What have I played lately?

Hey internet~ I finally found an article I can quickly jot down while I’m cooking up new ideas for more beefy content on this site. It’s been rough having the time to do full review articles recently or any sort of tutorial so I wanted to do something to at least keep the site going (Doing this all on my own by the way.)

I’ve decided to try out doing small blogs like this talking about what I’ve been playing recently and some small thoughts on the matter(s). So without further ado, let’s hop into it!

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Also known as the 7th game in the Yakuza series, I’ve been streaming this game quite a bit and the mini-games are as amazing as ever! From managing a multi-billion yen company to go-kart racing as well as an incredible story for each of them~

If you’re looking for the next big Yakuza game in the series or maybe something a bit different, think dragon quest meets Yakuza, you will be in for a treat! I’ve already sunk around 30 hours into the game and can tell I’ve got at least triple the amount to go before possibly finishing the game, let alone playing a new game plus.

It’s a different take on the series using a turn based battle system rather than the usual beat-em up style from the past games. The characters are as interesting as ever and the the tiebacks to previous games is very nice for those who have played through, of course if you haven’t seen much of the past games don’t worry it doesn’t rub it in your face 🙂

You can choose different party members to aid you on your ‘quest’ and even change their classes for different situations and just to try out the zany different combinations. Want Kasuga, the main guy, to be an all knowing fortune teller and cast magic spells from a crystal ball? Great! Or maybe being the classic hero wielding a mighty weapon is more your style? Easily done.

Of course, if you’re looking for something a bit more gritty in terms of combat and difficulty then maybe my other game will be more for you… provided you have one of those mythical PS5s

Demon’s Souls

For the uninitiated, this game was the OG of souls games back when it first released on PS3~ Now as a PS5 launch title and complete remake, I wish I had given the original a chance.

The graphics on 4k are mind blowing and the game itself still holds as challenging and hilarious as you die to a plethora of different enemies and traps (my last highlight video is a bit embarrassing in that regard…) but once you get a feel for it the rewards of defeating bosses is immensely satisfying.

You start off by creating a class and pick from different types or could just make your own homeless looking guy/girl and try to beat the game with no clothes! I wouldn’t recommend such a brutal challenge your first time through.

You can use a variety of attacks including weapons and magic and the kinds of weapons you find really make the game that much more interesting. Don’t want to just use a sword and shield? Try using a claymore and a crossbow at the same time! Maybe you like running through enemies with just a shield and maybe some magic; do it.

The story behind the game, while not many people talk about it, is still fun to listen to but for most people they want the challenge that the game brings and yes it is hard, but not so much that you’ll throw your controller through a wall (Halo 3 anyone?) .

Unless of course you enjoy the rush of PVP and claiming other player’s souls (Looking at you John Souls)

That’s all I have for now! I’ll try to post these kind of articles somewhat regularly when I have new games to talk about! Still working on some good review articles in the mean time as well as streaming and making Youtube content. Now I will take a nap~

Until next time,

Brother Ghesh out~
