Genshin Impact: An intro to gacha games.

Hey everyone! It’s been a while… life can be crazy sometimes.

Anyway I’m in a new place with a new job so I haven’t had time to sit down and type up something, but I have to talk about this. Genshin Impact is a crazy good game and it’s considered a gacha game.

So what’s a gacha game you might ask?

To put it simply, have you ever used one of those quarter machines that give you a random toy/collectible? That’s pretty much it but in a video-game format. These kinds of games tend to be mostly seen on mobile platforms and not really on consoles/PC games.

For example, let’s say you’re playing a gacha game and if you were to spend some money you’d maybe receive a new item or a character or something to use in said game.

That’s it.

Well not quite, depending on what the game is exactly you may be playing a turn based rpg or a strategy game or even a *cough* breath of the wild clone *cough* game. So what about Genshin Impact?

So while this game is a ‘gacha game’ it also has quite possibly some of the most enjoyable gameplay mechanics that draw from many different influences of gaming. It’s open world, you can level up different characters and even strategize your team for certain battles and enemy types.

It even has co-op (which definitely needs some work but otherwise fun to play) and many updates are planned for the game including story expansions, new characters and weapons and countless hours of exploring and discovering all that the game has to offer.

Just one thing though.

It can be incredibly slow to progress at times unless you’re willing to shell out some cash. By that you play the gacha part of the game. You spend some money, roll some random items/characters for a chance at some rare items to help progress you faster as well as earning items to help with upgrading your more rare items.

Sounds like a hustle right?

Thankfully, you can also earn these gacha rolls we will call them by just playing the game, completing quests, exploring new areas and finishing achievements which adds many hours to playing the game.

While you can’t necessarily fight bosses or run dungeons over and over again without paying some kind of currency whether it’s in-game currency or real world money, it is possible to make progress at a reasonable pace for a gacha game.

I don’t claim to be the know all gacha expert as that is a very expensive hobby and I already buy a lot of games as is, but I can say for sure that if you aren’t sure if investing time and potentially money into a game that is designed to make you spend money; let me finish this thought.

Do you like open world games such as Breath of the Wild? How about having hours of content to sink your teeth into without paying a dime for it? How about having multiple chances to get rare gacha rolls so that you don’t even have to pay money for it later?

I can attest that as someone that has spent $0.00 on this game and already have several 5 star items from gacha rolls that it is an absolute blast to play and yes maybe one day I will spend money on it, but you can’t argue it’s not worth playing until you try it for yourself. If you aren’t sure if you can even try the game out, it’s available on PS4, PC and mobile phones and potentially more systems in the future!

As always,

Brother Ghesh out~
